A flock of green parrots adorns this magnificent jewelry set by Mexican designer Rosanna Trejo. She paints the ceramic birds by hand, carefully detailing their feathers and wide round eyes. Pinewood spheres separate the birds as they hang from a silk cord necklace. The earrings feature brass hooks. I studied at Mexico’s National School for Teachers, where I graduated as a pre-school teacher. I have always loved working with children. “I love the handicrafts from my beloved Mexico, so in 1978 I began making my own. I started by making my own jewelry designs, and then looking for the type of materials that would be better suited for them. “My collections feature regional elements, such as delicious fruits, exotic birds, and ceramics, as well as details from people who influenced my country’s culture in one way or another, such as artist Frida Kahlo. “I would say my designs are a good complement to Mexican attires, be it traditional or modern.
